Despite the times, Charlie and I were friends. It was  easy with Charlie, he  was a good guy. I remember laughing with Charlie when we played basebal in Pony league and meeting after school.

His father Dr. Brown was a mentor when I  chose  my profession.

We planned to go to the Junior prom on a double date. My mother of another generation, put the nix on it. I did'nt understand. Charlie must have been hurt. So was I .Eventualy he was active in social causes, as  peace and justice for all, as was I.

Years later mothers heart changed, as did our Country's. I know she eventully  voted for Obama.

A few years too late for Charlei and me.

I didn't really know Charlie -- I just remember the song "Charlie Brown" (Why's everyone always pickin' on me?) by the Coasters, and occasioanlly we would joke with him about it. I remember him as easy going and nice.

Charlie was my teammate on a couple Little League teams (his little brother, Mark, was our batboy on one team). Superb family. I barely got to say hi to Charlie at the 40th, regret not spending more time with him.

I had a secret crush on you, Charlie.  Such a handsome and proud young man, who always had a smile and a kind word when we met in the halls.  And, once we started with our Reunions, I loved being able to dance with you - an especially fun time at one of our Reunion Picnics - not sure of the year, as it seems so long ago.  You were always ready for getting our music started at the event, and asking as many of the girls/women to dance as there was music!  Charlie - you will be sorely missed at our 50th Reunion.  Blessings to your family!

I often wondered what happened to George and Charlie Peterman. We were often in same classes from Murray Manor Elementary School and La Mesa Junior High.then "Helix High"! Those were the good old days.  Now that we will celebrate our 50 years of togetherness.....How could these years slip by so fast.  It makes me sad to find out that many of our school friends are no longer with us.....seems like just yesterday.

I am looking forward to seeing one another.....the problem is......do we still recognize each other..ha, ha,???

See you soon on Friday....(seeing your cars.)  Nancy (Perkins) "Van Ryzin"We celebrated our 50th

wedding aniversary this last June 26 at" Collier Memorial State Park".  We have a motorhome which we use alot...just to get away and enjoy each other....and our furry daughters (2 Shelties..dogs) that we love!!

Charlie will always stand out in my mind as the man on the field with the quick feet and great hands. More importantly he always had a smile for everyone. You will be missed.

More to Doug Wofford's comment:  As I recall more than one perception was changed when governor Pat Brown's wife visited Charlie's folks at their house.
