Walter Stephen (Steve) Anderson

Walter Steven Anderson, 58 a former Unitarian Minister who became a psychotherapist and Web Site designer, died on April 4, 2006 of Cancer at Inova Fairfax Hospital.  He lived in Centreville, VA.

Mr Anderson was born in Riverside County on August 2, 1947, he was a 1965 Graduate of Helix High School in La Mesa, California where he was very involved with Interfaith Council, Cross Country, JV Football, Track and Varsity Wrestling.  He graduated from California Western University (now United States International University).  He studied at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California before moving to Washington to pursue graduate studies at Wesley Theological Seminary, from which he received a Master of Divinity Degree in 1971.  

He was Associate Minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington from 1972-1974.  He then opened a private psychotherapy practice in Annandale.  He was an early practitioner of neuro-linguistic programming methods of psychotherapy and was a clinical member of the International Transactional Analysis Association.

In 1995, while continuing his psychotherapy practice on a limited basis, Mr. Anderson founded Mind Works Inc., a company that explored the social and psychological implications of the Internet.  He was later drawn to Web work and digital design.  For the past four yers, he worked with General Dynamics in Falls Church, where he helped design and develop websites.

Mr. Anderson wrote many articles and was the author of a book; "Mind Over Money" about investment strategies.  He lived in Annandale and Springfield before moving to Centreville about three years ago.  He enjoyed movies and golf and participated in off-road SUV rallies.  He recently took up painting and was enrolled in classes at the Corcoran School of Art at the time of his death.

His marriages to Diana Anderson and Lynn Arturi ended in divorce.  Survivors include his Mother, Leota Mae Anderson of Manassas, a daughter; Summer Anderson of Oakton, VA, and a grandson.

I remember Steve as one of the nicest guys I knew in high school. I think, but I'm not positive, that I talked with him at the 40th reunion.

Marcia Bradley (Walker)

Steve and I lived in the same neighborhood and we knew each other from the time we were about six years old.  Sadly, we lost contact as adults.  But until then we played as children, went to birthday parties, attended the same church, and shared many good times.
