Judith Ann Howard (Palmer)

Judith Ann Palmer (also known as Judy Howard and Judy Breece) age 66, died on September 29, 2013 in Eureka, CA.  Judy was born in San Diego on September 21, 1947 to Chares Ward Howard and Julia Park Howard. Judy grew up in La Mesa, California and graduated from Helix High School in 1965.

Judy met Warren Palmer while out dancing with friends in 1981.  They fell in love with each other many times over and married October 7, 1995.  They enjoyed walking, camping, and travelling together as well as spending time with their friends and families.

Judy fulfilled her long desire to move from San Diego to Eureka.  She absolutely loved to walk in the redwoods and on the many beaches in Humbolt County often with friends and loved ones, but always with her beloved dogs; Kodi and Charlie.  Judy returned to college shortly after moving north and she completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies in 1995 at Humholdt State University.  Music and dancing filled Judy's heart; she would sing along in church and with the radio.  Her sense of humor was unmatched; Judy never missed a pun or an opportunity to laugh.  Judy worked for Scottie Dog Quilts; she delighted in quilting for both it's creativity and the wonderful community that supported and inspired her.  Her generous spirit expressed itself within her community, famiy, and with her many friends.

Judy is survived by her husband, Warren Palmer; daughter Bonnie Breece and son Matt Breece; sister Virginia and her husband Mike; her brother Paul and his wife Denise; cousins Char, Kenny, and Heather; nieces Rebecca and Michaelyn; nephew Paul; great-nephews Caleb and Aaron; great-niece Kayla; Warren's children; Monty, Sean, Brian, and Stacy; and his grand children; Zachary, Richard, Jackson, Samuel, Vincent, Shaela, Nichole, Sophia, and Isaiah.  A memoria service in celebrationn of Judy's life will be held on Wednesday, October 9th at the First United Methodist Church, Eureka

Judith Ann Howard and I met before starting kindergarten - our families had been friends for many years before we came along. In fact her father and my mother attended La Mesa Elementary together in the 1920's. All four of our partents went to Grossmont at the same time. I remember playing in her house on Date St. just up and on the other side from Melony Brown's house. After her father died her mother moved to Alaska and so did Judy - she will always be Judith Ann to me - for a period  She was always a quiet person who shared a love of reading with Gayle Garfield and me. In our sophomore year we had a wild ride home from a contillion dance on Shelter Island - her father picked up a little "in his cups" shall be say and Judith and I cowered in the rear seat. - Sorry she isn't around to see all of her classmates. RIP Judith Ann - love, michael

Judith and I were classmates in elementary and junior high school and we spent a good deal of time together.  I went home with her after school daily during junior high.  We shared a love of reading.  During sixth grade, she would borrow a Nancy Drew mystery from someone in our class each day.  She would take it home and read it one night, then give it to me to take home and read the next.  We had great fun together.  News of her passing really saddened me.
